Grandkids Guide (grandkidsguide.com) provides local activity recommendations for grandparents and families. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information We Collect

  • Profile details you choose to provide (city, interests, planning preferences)
  • Business inquiry details submitted through venue or event forms
  • Basic site analytics used to measure aggregate traffic and performance

Weekend Finder, Weather and Location

The weekend finder on our homepage shows a weather outlook and may open on the county closest to you. To do that, our host estimates a general area from your connection, the same way most websites do. We use it only to choose one of the four counties we cover, and we do not save that estimate or link it to you. We never ask your device for its precise location. If you choose a county yourself, that choice is remembered in your own browser so the site can open on it next time. The forecast comes from the National Weather Service; your browser does not contact the weather service directly.

TikTok Integration

Grandkids Guide integrates with TikTok via TikTok for Developers' Login Kit and Content Posting API. If you choose to connect your TikTok account to Grandkids Guide, the following applies:

  • Data accessed: We receive your TikTok display name and avatar (via user.info.basic) to confirm which account is connected, and your profile link and verification status (via user.info.profile).
  • Content publishing: With your authorization, Grandkids Guide uses the Content Posting API (video.publish, video.upload) to publish video content you explicitly schedule to your own TikTok profile. Content is only posted when you initiate it — Grandkids Guide never posts without your action.
  • Data use: TikTok account data is used solely to display your connected account and to publish content you schedule. We do not sell, share, or use TikTok data for advertising or profiling purposes.
  • Disconnect: You may disconnect your TikTok account from Grandkids Guide at any time. Disconnecting revokes our access to your TikTok account.

AI Assistant Connector

You can connect Grandkids Guide to an AI assistant, such as Meta's Muse, Claude or ChatGPT, through our read-only connector at grandkidsguide.com/mcp (setup guide). When you ask the assistant about places to go, the following applies:

  • What we receive: only the search details the assistant sends, such as words like "farm" or "museum", a town, a county or a venue name. We do not receive your name, your account with the assistant, or the rest of your conversation.
  • What we keep: we do not save these searches or link them to you. If a request fails, a short error message, which can include the search words, is kept in our hosting provider's temporary logs so we can fix it. Our hosting and database providers also keep routine request logs for a short time, and our host uses your IP address to limit how many requests one connection can make and to block abuse.
  • Links: links in the connector's answers are tagged so that visits from an AI assistant show up in our aggregate site analytics.
  • The assistant itself: the company that runs your AI assistant handles your conversation under its own privacy policy. No account is needed to use the connector, and you can disconnect it in your assistant's settings at any time.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We use infrastructure and service providers (for example hosting, database, and payment processing) strictly to operate the service.

  • Request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate site traffic and performance. Cloudflare Analytics does not use cookies and does not track individual users across sites — this runs regardless of your cookie choice below.

The cookie banner shown on your first visit lets you choose whether the tools below run at all. Analytics tools only run after you accept analytics cookies, and you can change your mind at any time using the button below.

  • PostHog — product analytics (session behavior, feature usage, error tracking) and session recordings that help us understand how visitors navigate the site. All form inputs (including email addresses) are masked in recordings and never captured in plain text. PostHog data is stored in the US and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recordings and heatmaps to understand how visitors interact with the site. Clarity data is processed by Microsoft in accordance with their privacy policy and is not used for advertising purposes.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate site traffic and usage patterns.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel) — measures the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram — for example, whether someone who saw our ad visited the site. This data is used only for ad measurement and is not used to build behavioral profiles or target you with ads on this site. We do not use third-party advertising cookies for behavioral retargeting on this site.

Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time by emailing[email protected].

Children's Privacy

Grandkids Guide is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
